The work began in performance analysis: seeing decisions, momentum and meaning beneath the surface of a game.

For more than thirty years, the tools and settings changed. The purpose did not.

A restless kind of still

Not Asleep. Searching for Ground.

The screens grew slow and heavy. Simple things disappeared beneath complexity.

Ideas were waiting, but building the wrong answer simply to prove it could be built was never enough.

Then the Old Door Closed

The machine would not go back. An old workflow ended, and the route ahead had to be found rather than restored.

A new voice met my thinking

Not an Answer Machine. A Thinking Room.

AI did not replace judgement. It made questions testable — a place where uncertainty could become a route.

Cha held the centre: heart, perspective and the reason the work mattered.

OS gave it form: systems, architecture and logic.

Storybook Film Studio brought the lifelong pattern into focus: recognise what matters, protect it, and give it a moment.

This story is not about making every step look planned. It is about noticing the thread that was already there: a lifelong practice of looking closer, protecting meaning, and giving important things the attention they deserve.

The story already exists. The work is to recognise it.

Helping People See What Matters

The story beneath more than thirty years of work.

I’m Darrell Cobner.

I have spent more than 30 years helping people see what matters, although I did not always describe the work that way.

Across my career, the roles can look different on the surface: sport analysis, video annotation, bowls review, human-AI thinking, and story films. But underneath, they share the same purpose.

Performance analysis makes hidden patterns visible.

HighLightIt! makes teaching points visible.

BowlsIQ makes evidence visible.

ChaOS makes thinking visible.

Storybook Film Studio makes stories visible.

The common thread is not technology.

The tools have changed, but the purpose has remained remarkably consistent: making important things visible and helping people see what was already there.

Storybook Film Studio is the latest expression of that purpose. On the surface, it turns stories into films. At a deeper level, it recognises stories that already exist and treats them as worthy of care, interpretation and celebration.

A child’s story carries imagination. A parent’s or grandparent’s story can carry memory, identity and legacy. A meaningful story deserves more than storage. It deserves to be seen, felt and remembered.

The work is not simply to generate images, songs or videos. Those are the tools. The real work is judgement: noticing what matters, protecting the author’s intention, shaping the emotional journey, and giving the story a moment worthy of the person behind it.

I do not believe Storybook Film Studio generates stories. It recognises them.

The story already exists. My role is to help others see it.

The premiere is not a webpage. It is a moment.

Every story deserves its moment.
